I need to be snapped out of hypercritical mode...
Well, we went to Alice Dr. Baptist Church this morning, which oddly enough is not now nor has it at any time in the past been located on Alice Dr. And there were just a couple things that if they happened consistently would really grate on the nerves... however, this was my first time going there, so I have no idea. Sunday school was small, short, no discussion of the "lesson" and mostly chit chat. Worship was good. The building was beautiful. The youth pastor was preaching, since the normal pastor was on vacation. The annoying thing was that one of his main points seemed to be that parents should force there kids to go to church anytime the doors were open... which isn't too bad a concept, but I'm seeing ulterior motivation. So, I was nitpicky, and it's not a pleasant mindset.
Incidentally, the chocolate chip cookies they give to first time visitors were good.

I think forcing kids into church is not going to help anyone. It sorta teaches them that chruch is what saves you and not Jesus Christ. If their heart is right they will go to church to please God, and if it is not, forcing them to listen to some preacher is not going to help.

I agree that church is not what saves us. However, up to a certain age, I think it is perfectly acceptable to take kids to church without asking if there heart is right. Also, forced attendance is acceptable in cases where the heart's openness to God is not the issue... for instance, my mom's forcing me to go to youth group as one more way to curb my tendencies towards hermithood.
